Hisdaughtersrequest,forsuchitmightbeconsidered,ofbeingadmittedintoherfamilyagainbeforeshesetofffortheNorth,receivedatfirstanabsolutenegative.ButJaneandElizabeth,whoagreedinwishing,forthesakeoftheirsistersfeelingsandconsequence,thatsheshouldbenoticedonhermarriagebyherparents,urgedhimsoearnestlyyetsorationallyandsomildly,toreceiveherandherhusbandatLongbourn,assoonastheyweremarried,thathewasprevailedontothinkastheythought,andactastheywished.AndtheirmotherhadthesatisfactionofknowingthatshewouldbeabletoshowhermarrieddaughterintheneighbourhoodbeforeshewasbanishedtotheNorth.WhenMr.Bennetwroteagaintohisbrother,therefore,hesenthispermissionforthemtocome;anditwassettled,thatassoonastheceremonywasover,theyshouldproceedtoLongbourn.Elizabethwassurprised,however,thatWickhamshouldconsenttosuchascheme,andhadsheconsultedonlyherowninclination,anymeetingwithhimwouldhavebeenthelastobjectofherwishes.
